Rick Stoner studied art at Colorado State University (BFA) and Miami University, Ohio (MFA). Though primarily a pastelist, Stoner also works in oils, preferring to push the colors he sees to communicate the intensity and emotion of a scene. “Light and color are the two most important qualities of my painting. I attribute that to my childhood in the Four-Corners area of Colorado, where I saw and felt light unlike anywhere else I have been.” Stoner has taught at the Art Students League and the Loveland Academy. He has had many successful one-man shows and his work is in numerous private and public collections across the country including Colorado State University, Miami University, Texaco Corporation, Hughes Aircraft, Amoco Oil Company, Adams Mark Hotel, and the City of Longmont, CO.
