Russ Tanner began his artistic career when he received a full scholarship to attend the American Academy of Art in Chicago. He furthered his education at the Kansas City Art Institute. Russ enjoyed a successful career in illustration and design before following his calling to create fine art. Russ taught fine art at the Art Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico for three years. He studied with contemporary masters Clyde Aspevig, Scott Christensen and was mentored by Wilson Hurley.
